We rented a metallic MINI Cooper and drove up to the Storm King Art Center in the Hudson Valley. We had bought a GPS, but still got lost. It took us more than 3 hours to get there (how pathetic!)
Chai was so nervous in the car and kept wining... everyone was in a bad mood. However, it was worth it. It is an amazing place! There were Calder,
Noguchi, Maya Lin... so many great sculptors' pieces were presented in a massive-500-acres land!
メタリックブルーのミニクーパーをレンタルして、アップステートはハドソンヴァリーにあるストームキングアートセンターに行って来ました。GPSをつけてもしっかり迷った私たち、、。１時間で着くはずが３時間以上かかって、チャイも私も旦那さんも皆、超不機嫌。でも行った甲斐がありました。１９６０年代にできたこのセンター、５００エーカーという贅沢な敷地内に、すごい彫刻家たちの作品が、ポ〜ンポ〜ンと置いてあります。カルダー、ノグチ、マヤリン、、、どれも素晴らしい！この２つ目の写真はイサムノグチの「桃太郎」という作品。
It looks like a death mask, doesn't it? Surprisingly, this piece was done by Nam June
Paik and it is called, "Waiting for UFO." Since those faces were on the ground it is easy to be missed. What an incredible place... I highly recommend you to visit! このデスマスクのような作品は、驚くことにナムジュンパイクの作品で「ＵFOを待って」という作品。地に埋めつけられているので、遠くからは気づかない作品です。迷わなければニューヨーク市内から約１時間半で行けるこのアートセンター、おすすめです！
