His name is Bond. James Bond. "Skyfall" has already made $670M on the third week! I went to see it on the next day that I returned to Socal. I have loved the Bond series since my childhood, and I have seen them all. Sean Connery is the classic and the best, I must say, but to me Daniel Craig version is the most appealing. I don't think that he is particularly that handsome, but there is something very attractive about him!
The film will open soon in Japan, so I won't write the details here, but I want to explain why I like the modern Bond better.
Bond that the author Ian Flemming portrayed never lost his cool, impeccably handsome, extremely appealing towards women and had an exquisite taste in fine things such as cigars, food and wine. He never expressed his emotions, and always held himself in perfection.
When Daniel Craig began playing Bond his character has changed a bit - he has started to share more of his "human side" with the audience. I think that it is a brilliant way to engage with the modern audience.
Bond today is portrayed as a perfectionist man with a dark upbringing and a childhood-trauma, and he has a major mother issue that he constantly has to prove himself to "M" (the mother figure) to please her. Yet, he never gets any approvals from her (of course), and it even makes him want to do more and better. It is quite masochistic!
This is Bond that we never saw in the old days, and I wonder how Flemming would feel about this.
Is it just me who thinks that he would hate it? lol
I remember that one summer my first husband's brother went on a fancy boat trip in Greece with Roger Moore, another actor who played Bond. He was not really a nice man, I was told. Later in a magazine article I read that Roger Moore was abused as a child. How ironic that his actual life was similar to James Bond's dark background.
I highly recommend "Skyfall." You will see a 'funny' scene with Bond and the classic Aston Martin that appeared in the old Bond film. It is to celebrate its 50th anniversary, and it was quite amazing!

私も南カリフォルニアに戻った翌日に見て来ました。
００７シリーズは子供の頃から好きで全部見て
います。ボンド役はなんと言ってもクラシックの
ショーン・コネリーが一番だと思いますが、やっぱり
私はこのダニエル・クレッグがいい！特にハンサム
でも無いのだけれど、なんとも言えない魅力いっぱい！
日本でももうすぐ公開される様なので、内容は書かない
ようにしますが、なぜ私がモダン・ボンドが好きなのか
を説明しましょう。
原作者イアン・フレミングが描いたボンドは、常にクールで
格好良くて女性にモテモテの完璧人間でした。人間と
しての感情など一切見せず、いつもパキッとしている。
それがジェイムス・ボンドだった。
でも、ダニエル・クレッグがボンドを演じ始めて、ボンドも
少し「現代化」されて来た。そう、現代のオーディエンスに
受けいられるように心理的にも演出が変わって来た様です。
ダニエルが演じるボンドは、暗い過去を持ち、幼児時代のトラウマ
を引きづるマザコンで完璧主義者です。常に自分を証明する
ことによって、母親フィギアの「M」から褒められたいから頑張る。
「M」から裏切られても冷たくされても諦めないマゾのよう。
こんな演出はかつてのボンドシリーズにはありませんでしたネ。
私の最初の旦那さんのお兄さんが、ある夏休みに、ロジャー・
ムーア（ボンド役で有名な俳優）と一緒にギリシャでヨットの旅を
したことがありました。聞くところによると、なんとも嫌な性格な
人だったとか。笑 後である雑誌の記事で知ったのですが、
ロジャー・ムーアは子供の頃、虐待を受けていたそうです。
こんなこと言っては良くないかも知れませんが、ボンドのキャラ
クターと似たところがあったのですね。なんとも皮肉です、、。
「スカイフォール」。お薦めです。特にボンドとアストン・マーティンの
シーンが面白い。このアストン・マーティンは、５０年前のボンドシリーズに
登場したかの車。００７の５０周年を祝って登場したそうですヨ！
