The summer fun in SoCal 南カリフォルニア夏の楽しみ

SoCal is a mecca for surfing. We see surfers, surf boards and surf shops everywhere.

南カリフォルニアはサーフィンのメッカ。サーファーたち、サーフボード、サーフショップをあちこちで見かけます。



When I first saw this road sign I thought it was a joke..., but it is not!

こんなロードサインを見た時、はじめはジョークかと思ったほど。でも、これ真面目なサインなんです。



So... I finally bought my first wet suit for surfing! Just kidding. I bought it so that I would be cold in the ocean - since the water is always cold I need the wet suit to be able to swim in the sea.

そして、とうとう私もサーフィンのためにウエットスーツをゲット！というのは嘘。サーフィンのためではなくて、海で泳ぐためです。ここの海の水はいつも冷たいので、これを着て泳ぐと寒くないのです。



The variety and the selection of the beach sandals here in SoCal are unbelievable! There are hundreds of them, all lined up! Too bad that I don't wear beach sandals. (I just don't like them) Perhaps I should...!

南カリフォルニアのビーチサンダルのバラエティとセレクションは見事です！何百という数が販売されています。私はビーチサンダルを履かないので残念、　（好きじゃないんです）でも履いてみようかな、、！

Swami Beach & Love スワミビーチとラブ

The Swami Beach in Enchinitas is my favorite beach. It's not only known for the surfing, but it is just beautiful with the emerald green water. I always climb up the Swami Ashram on the hill to look down this gorgeous ocean and its surfers. This place makes you want to come back again and again..., and that is what I do.

エンシニタスにある有名なスワミビーチは私のお気に入り。サーファーのビーチとしてだけでなく、エメラルドグリーンの海でも知られています。私はいつも丘の上にあるスワミのアシュラムに行って、そこからこのゴージャスな海やサーファーたちを見下ろすのが大好き。ここはなぜかしら、何度も何度も来たくなってしまう場所。だから何度も戻って来てしまう私です。



At the sunset, there were so many surfers in the ocean. Young and old, men and women... everyone surfs here. As I was trying to photograph this amazing sunset, suddenly a man and a woman appeared in my lens like a romantic movie scene.

夕暮れには大勢のサーファーたちがサーフィンをしていました。若者もいれば年寄りも、男性も女性も、、。ここでは皆サーフィンをするんです。この素晴らしいサンセットを撮ろうとしていたら、急にある男女が登場。まるで映画のロマンティックシーンみたい。



Then, look what they did...! 　そして、こんなことしちゃった、、、！




These girls were such good surfers. I did not realize that they were female when I had watched them surf.

この女の子たちは上手なサーファーでした。ビーチから見ている時は、彼女たちが女性だということに気付かなかったくらいです。さすがカリフォルニア。




I am not a surfer, but this beach is a sanctuary for me. It always brings me a joy and makes me feel so at home. A magical place of love, indeed!

サーフィンをしない私にとっても、このビーチはサンクチュアリです。ここに来るとホッとして嬉しくなるのです。実に愛の魔法の場所ですね！
