Kyoto Prize Award 稲盛和夫氏と

The symposium of the Kyoto Prize Award, one of the most prestigious awards in Japan was held in San Diego where Kyocera's headquarter resides. The honorable chair, Dr. Kazuo Inamori (the founder of Kyocera and the Inamori Foundation) along with three award laureates this year, Dr. Ivan Sutherland (who invented the Sketchpad), Dr. Yoshinori Ohsumi (Cell biologist ) and my friend from New York, Dr. Gayatri Spivak (philosopher) all came to attend the gorgeous symposium, and I was fortunate to spend a few days with those amazing people with lots of brain cells!

 日本で最も名誉ある賞のひとつ、「京都賞」（稲盛
財団）のシンポジウムセレモニーが、今年も京セラの
本社があるサンディエゴで開催されました。
名誉会長稲盛和夫氏をはじめ、２０１２年受賞者のイヴァン・
サザーランド博士（スケッチパッド発明）、大隅良典博士
（細胞遺伝子）、そして私のニューヨークの友人でも
あるコロンビア大学教授ガヤトリ博士（哲学者）という、
爆発しそうな脳細胞の持ち主たちと数日間過ごし、素晴らしい
経験をしました！

The event began with a fancy black tie gala dinner party. I was suggested to wear
kimono, but I wore this beautiful Indian dress for my friend, Dr. Gayatori.

Dr. Inamori, one of the most renown entrepreneurs and philanthropist in Japan today first came to the states by himself after being rejected by everyone in Japan when he had proposed to start a ceramic company. He started Kyocera, one of the biggest ceramic companies in the world in America, and later he brought it back to Japan. He was appointed to be an honorable chairman of the Japan Airline and he succeed to  rebuild the company.

Although he is a famous businessman his personality is very gentle, friendly, warm and kind. When we talked together he kept his smile on him and held my hands with his warm hands. His energy is extremely clear and serene that reminded me a holy man.

There are so many amazing people who are working so hard in order to make this world better. Dr. Ohsumi, too, was such a kind gentleman, and I was so impressed by his humbleness.

What a great few days I experienced with humanity.

パーティでスタート。私はインド人のガヤトリ博士
のために、インドのドレスで参加。

かつて、セラミックの会社を作りたいと提案したにも関わらず、
日本では誰にも相手にされなかった稲盛氏は、
スーツケース片手に独りでアメリカに来て、京セラを
立ち上げたのです。つい先日までは、JALの名誉
会長としても大活躍されておりましたね。

経営の天才にも関わらず、とっても温かいお人柄です。
いつもニコニコして私のお話を聞いて下さり、大きく
包容力のある手はポカポカと温かく、素晴らしく澄んだ、
綺麗なエネルギーの持ち主でおられます。

世の中を良くするために、沢山の方々が一生懸命に
研究し、働き、貢献している。大隅博士も、あんなに凄い
研究をしている学者なのに、とても謙虚なジェントルマンで感動しました。

ヒューマニティを深く感じることができた数日間でした。
