Hotel Del Coronado's Ghosts ホテル・デル・コロナドの幽霊

So, is this Marylin Monroe's ghost? No, no, this is a location shot from "Some Like It Hot" that
was shot on Coronado Beach near where we live. The hotel behind is the famous and fancy Hotel Del Coronado.
This hotel was built in 1888, and has been loved by the royalties, movie stars and the riches around the world. Duke of Windsor met Wallis Simpson at this hotel, Ronald Reagan used to vacation here every year, and many Hollywood stars such as Brad Pitt are the regulars.

この写真は本物のマリリン。「お熱いのはお好き？」の
映画のロケのワンショットです。このロケは、実は我が家の
近く、コロナドビーチにある、かの最高級ホテル
「ホテル・デル・コロナド」。
１８８８年に建てられ、世界中の王室、著名人、リッチたち
に愛されて来ました。ウインザー公は後に妻となるワリス・
シンプソンにこのホテルで出会い、レーガン元大統領は
毎年このホテルでバカンスを過ごし、ブラッド・ピットをはじめ
多くの映画スターたちにも愛用されています。

My husband and I come here often to enjoy afternoon drinks and lunches outside by the sea. Today, we came to try their "Best Sunday Brunch in San Diego."Since I don't like buffet dining I did not want to go, but my husband insisted to try.

We dressed up and went to the restaurant, but it was more like a local cafeteria. The service was bad and children were running around. The food was so-so as I expected, and it was certainly not worth $80 per person (plus tax and gratitude, etc.)

What made me depressed was to watch people waste food. To me buffets represent the worst side of the humanity - people stuff themselves, take much more than they can eat, waste food, and they go back to take more. I saw so much food wasted going to trash. This is so passe and wrong in the era we live- the era of Monsanto/GMO food, the era of that fact that we don't have enough food to feed the entire humanity. This is just crazy!

So, anyway, about the ghosts. This hotel is also known for its ghosts. Apparently the many hotel guests have seen them and have heard the "strange" noises. It totally makes a sense to me. When I first visited the hotel I felt something while walking on the old and dark hallways.
However, perhaps that noisy Sunday Brunch is a fun place for ghosts to hang out, after all! Hahaha~!


私と旦那さんは、よくこのホテルに来て海を眺めながらドリンクやランチ
を楽しみますが、今日は「サンディエゴのベスト・サンデー
ブランチ」と言われるブランチに来てみました。一人約１万円。
ブッフェスタイルなので気が向きませんでしたが、旦那さんが
どうしても行ってみたいというので、しぶしぶと、、。

お洒落して行ったのに、レストランについてみると、まるで
その辺のカフェテリアみたいでビックリ。サービスも悪いし、
子供は走り回ってるし、がっかりでした。お料理は予想どおり
イマイチ（苦笑）。一万円の価値、全く無しでした～　あはは。

おまけに、ブッフェは人間の貪欲さがにじみ出る場所。食べきれ
ない程お皿に盛り、沢山残しては、また採りに行く。あんなに
食べ物を無駄するのは、モンサント／GMO（遺伝子改良の食料）を使用
しないと人類が充分に食べて行けなくなってしまった時代に
全く相応しくないと思います。

それで、おそくなりましたが、なぜ、幽霊？
このホテル、お化けがよく出るのでも有名なんだそうです。
確かに納得。初めて訪れた時、古い建物の中の廊下を
歩いている時に、なんやら感じた私です。泊まったゲストたち
は、よく謎めいた音を聞いたり、幽霊をみるそうですヨ。

でも、あのガチャガチャとしたブランチがあれば、お化けに
とっては愉快な住処なのかも知れませんネ～！
