Law of Karma カルマの法則

I've been a bit down lately. 100 Tibetans have self-immolated, and 3 more today..., yet, our
global society would not do much about it because everyone wants to do business with China
(and no one wants to upset China for that reason.) The Tibetans are using their own lives to
ask the world for a help, but no one seems to do anything about it... what a strange world
we live in... Is this a karma, I wonder.

ここ数日間、ちょっと沈んでいました。昨日でチベット人の
焼身自殺が１００人を超え、今日もまた３人。それでも
国際社会は何もしようとしません。中国とのビジネスが
大事だからです。チベットの若者が自分の命を使って
まで、世界に助けを求めているのに。全くおかしな世の中
です。でも、これもカルマなのでしょうか、、、？
 

A bar & restaurant in San Diego created an ad using the Dalai Lama's photo and a stupid false quote without his permission in order to sell their beer last week. When I saw this tasteless ad I called the bar right away and asked them to removed the ad. "We think it's funny," the bar manager replied, and they did not take down the ad.

I informed my friends in San Diego about this ad, and asked them to call the bar as well. Some did, but the bar still refused to take down the ad. The ad went on facebook, and many around the world demanded the bar to take off the ad. The facebook comments between the bar (and its supporters) and people who wanted the ad removed got ugly, and it went on for several days. The bar comments contained some condescending, vulgar and racial remarks towards the Tibetans and Asians.

So we fought. To make a long story short, finally the ad was removed after five days. It was such disturbing five days, indeed.
Then, I thought about the bar owner and his supporters' karma. Tibet has been suffering for 60 years under the Chinese rule, and if the bar people have to make fun of that tragedy in order to feel good about themselves how pathetic is that?
What kind of karma are they creating for themselves? Their compassion-less attitude will only create a negative karma for themselves. It is quite sad.

Then, I began feeling sorry for them. However, it is wrong to stay quiet.

It is a Valentine's Day today, and I would like to send love to those who
have got the rusted and rotten hearts.

先週、サンディエゴのあるレストランバーが、ビールを
売るために、ダライ・ラマ法王の写真を無断使用し、
その上、下らないジョークを添えた広告を流しました。
あまりにも酷いので、私はすぐにレストランに電話を
して、その広告を取り下げるように伝えたところ、レストラン
側は、「私たちは面白いと思う」と言って拒否。
サンディエゴの友人たちにもお願いして、皆に電話抗議を
してもらいましたが、レストランとその常連たちは、こちらを
馬鹿にするような発言をしたり、アジア人やチベット人を
差別するような言葉を発したり、もうそれはそれは下品な
行為オンパレードでした。
私はこういうことには黙っていられないタイプなので、
戦いました。長い話を短くしますと、５日後に、その広告は
削除されました。ムカつく数日でしたが、ふと、レストランのオーナー
や、お客さんたちのカルマについて考えたんです。
祖国を失い、６０年間悲惨な生活を続けているチベット人たち
の心を支えであるダライ・ラマ法王や、チベット人たちを
馬鹿にして幸福感を得なければならない人たち、、。なんとも
哀れです。世の中で何が起こっているかも知らず、自分たちさえ
よければそれで良いという態度や、他人に対する思いやりの心
に欠ける精神、、。
彼らこそが、ヘビーなカルマを作っていて、いずれは大きな試練の
壁にぶちあたるのでしょう。
そう思ったら、この下品な人たちが気の毒に思えて来ました。
でも、間違ったことや、弱い者いじめは黙って見ていてはいけない。
黙って見ている行為は、不法を起こした人と同じくらい罪が重いと
言いますよね。
今日、アメリカはヴァレンタインズデーです。チョコやキャンディは
どうでもいい。錆び付いてドロドロした人たちの心に愛を送りたいと
思います。
