Loquats びわの実

Every year my mother used to put a loquat in my bento box at the annual athletic meeting in my lower school. That is how I remember loquats. When I was walking my dog the other day, I noticed a big tree with lots of orange-color-fruits that were not there before. Apricots...? I thought, but no. Oh my goodness, I could not believe that they were "biwa"! (loquats in Japanese.) They looked so, so good, so I stood under the tree for a while hoping that some fruits would fall into the ground. I went back to the tree the next day, and stood around under the tree again. A woman came out from the house near the tree, so I talked to her. She told me that the loquats are everywhere all year around, but they tasted the best in May and June. I shall go back there again in May and shall wait under the tree until one or two will fall on me... because if I pick them it will make me a thief, but if they fall on me it is okay to take them, right? (or not?)


びわの実で思い出すのは日本の運動会です。
よく母が、お弁当のデザートにびわを持たせて
くれました。今日、犬のお散歩中に、ある巨大な木
に、ついこの間までなかった実が沢山なっているのを
みつけたんです。最初アプリコットかと思ったのですが、
近寄ってみると、なんと、びわ！４月の末にびわ～？
美味しそうで美味しそうで、しばらくその木の下で
ウロウロしていました。（落ちてくるのを待っていた）

翌日、またその木を見に行きました。すると一人の女性が
木のある家から出て来たんです。その女性いわく、
サンディエゴでは一年中、びわがなっているんですって！
でも美味しいのは５月、６月だそうです。来月あたり、
またその木の下でウロウロして、びわが落ちて来るの
を期待します。木から採ったら泥棒だけど、落ちていれば
良い、、、？な～んて勝手に思っている私はいけませんか？笑

あ、ちなみに、びわは、英語でロクワットと言います。

Magnificent Dolphins! イルカたち、素晴らしい！

The ocean in California is always cold, and to me, even with a wet suite it is chilly..., but not for the surfers! They are surfing in spring, summer, fall and winter. I enjoy watching them on the beach, and recently I found this amazing video of the dolphins at the beach we pass very often. I have seen one dolphin at a beach, but nothing like this! Moreover, I found out that this is a nude beach!

カリフォルニアの海の水はウエットスーツを着ても冷たいのですが、
サーファーたちはそんなこと気にしませんヨ。ビーチ大好きな私は
いろんなビーチに行って楽園のような景色をエンジョイします。
このビデオは私もよく通る有名なビーチ。イルカは一頭だけ見た
ことありますが、こんなのは信じられない！！！しかも、ここは
ヌードビーチなんですって。笑　だからイルカも嬉しそう？笑

Perfect weather of SoCal 南カリフォルニアの完璧な天気

The weather in San Diego this spring/summer has been amazingly great. It's been sunny, dry and
gorgeous. Usually in June there is a gloomy period called, "June gloom" that it rains lightly everyday, but this year we did not even have it. As a summer person I am loving it! We cleaned up our terrace table outside that we did not use for a while, and began having meals outside. It's just heavenly. I know why San Diego is called "the finest city in America."

今年の春／夏のサンディエゴのお天気は最高です。毎年、南カリフォルニアでは「ジューングルーム」と呼ばれる雨期のような時期があって、毎日どんより雲に小雨が降ったりするのですが、今年はそんな時期も無くて、毎日ゴージャス！夏人間の私には最高！なので、しばらく使ってなかったテラステーブルもお掃除して、また外で食事をし始めました。天国のようです。ああ、だからやっぱりここサンディエゴは「アメリカで最も美しい街」と呼ばれているのですネ〜。
