Rockfeller State Park ロックフェラー州立公園

NY州郊外にあるロックフェラー州立公園までドライブして来ました。車で約１時間。あっと言う間に、あたりは緑の楽園です。このステイトパーク、実はあまり知られていません。チャイを連れてハイキングをしました。深い森を歩くのは初めてのチャイ。自然の香に興奮状態です。３０度以上の暑さの中、キノコや花々を眺めながら延々と歩きました。チャイはかなりばてて、時々、こうして寝そべってゼーゼー言っていました。ふと、茂みから熱い視線を感じた私、、、。すると、そこには鹿が、ひっそりと私を見つめているではないですか！驚かせないようにカメラのシャッターを切ると、ピヨンピヨンと跳ねながら、去って行きました。

We took Chai (our pug puppy) to his first hike at the Rockefeller State Park. He ran around the flowers and mushrooms in the deep woods and he was so excited. It was over 85 degrees that day and he got exhausted. During our break I felt that something was watching me... it was a beautiful deer. I did not want to scare her so I photographed her very quietly. She watched me without moving for a while and then ran away. What a lovely day it was.

Chai's Best(?) Friend チャイの親友？

Chai, our pug puppy has got a crush on Wally! Well, we do, too. Wally is our neighbors' dog and we will dog sit for about a week while they go on vacation. Chai is so excited and crazy around Wally and Wally has been incredibly patient with Chai. Can you imagine that Wally only eats a little everyday? Chai eats much more than such a huge dog!!!

見てください、この可愛い巨大なわんちゃん！これは、ウオリーという近所に住む夫婦の犬で、ラブとプードルのハーフ。２歳です。チャイはウオリーが大好きで、もう興奮状態。ウオリーを一週間あずかることになりました。こんなに大きな身体なのに、静かでお利口さん。つい、そこにいるのを忘れてしまうくらいです。チャイがちょっかいかけて来ても、辛抱強くかまってくれます。優しいウオリー。私もメロメロです。へへへ、、、

洞爺湖のこの美しい眺めは、ホテルの窓から撮ったもの（上の写真）。ここで昨年の夏にG８サミットが開催されたのですね。あたりは中国人観光客でごった返していました。そして、長年行きたかった京都の伏見稲荷神社。延々と続くトリイが神秘的でした。クリストの「門」は、きっとこれにインスパイアされたのに違いね、、と旦那と話ながら歩きました。でも、歩く方向を間違って、ローカルのおばさんに注意されてしまった。（怒られた！）私、日本人なのに、知らないこといっぱいで反省、、です。暑い京都を一日中、大汗かきながら歩きました。二ノ坂（上から３番目の写真）も、雰囲気溢れるお散歩道。感動が続いて暑さもぶっとびました。最後の日は東京。母と旦那と３人で、大好きなお店、麻布十番の「浪花家」さんへ。あんこ狂の旦那は、たい焼きを見ると、目がギラギラと光り始めた、、、！あつあつのできたてを、名物店長さんが運んで来てくれました。旦那が「どこから食べるの？」と聞くと、お父さん店長は、「女は尻尾から、男は頭からだよ！」と、元気いっぱいのお返事。私は白玉あんみつ。ああ、美味しかった。

The Toya Lake (the top photo) was taken from our hotel room. It looked so mysterious and beautiful! The G8 Summit was held here last summer. The area was filled with the honeymooners from China. The second photo is from the Fusemi Inari Shrine in Kyoto. We are certain that Christo had been inspired by this to create his Gates! There were hundreds of Torii for miles and miles. Also, the Ninosaka street in Kyoto was a perfect stroll on a hot day in Kyoto.
It was extremely hot, but the street was so beautiful that it was soothing. We spent the last day in Tokyo. We visited one of my favorite spots in Tokyo, Naniwaya in Azabujuban. It is the oldest Taiyaki shop in Japan. My husband who loves "Anko" (red bean paste) was thrilled to try the famous Taiyaki (fish-shaped red bean sweets). The owner came to greet us. He's a well-known celebrity on television. He told my husband to eat the Taiyaki from its "head" because all men should do so. He said that women should eat from the "tails."

What a great trip! 楽しい日本旅行でした！

北海道は阿寒国立公園の摩周湖などをまわり、洞爺湖へ飛び、札幌を見てから、京都へ。京都から和歌山県の高野山へ。そして、東京、、、と、盛り沢山の旅でした。京都の暑さにはビックリ。去年の夏訪れたインドはムーンバイの暑さにも負けないくらいでしたヨ。写真は、上から、高野山のお寺でいただいた精進料理。う〜ん、どれも美味しかった！そして、有名すぎる金閣寺。今さら写真など、、、とも思ったけれど、やっぱり撮っちゃった。金箔を貼ったあとがはっきり見えて凄かったです。そして、京都で見かけた舞子さん。暑いのに汗ひとつ見せず、綺麗でした〜。下の写真は、京都は鴨川沿いのバーのウインドウ。なんだか可愛くって。笑　これから写真の整理をするので、もっとアップします！お楽しみに〜！

Japan in the summer... I had totally forgotten how hot it was! Kyoto was worse than Mumbai, India. Yet, Hokkaido, the northern island was nice and cool. My husband and I traveled to the Akan National Park and visited a beautiful lake, Mashu ko. After checking out Toya and Sapporo we flew to Kyoto and stayed there for four days. One day we made a day trip to Koyasan, a mecca of the esoteric Buddhism in Japan. The top photo is the "Shojin" cuisine lunch we had at a monastery. This is a monk meal and it is all vegetarian! The next one is Kinkakuji, the Golden Pavilion in Kyoto. It is too famous. We saw a beautiful Maiko (Geisha) on a street one day. Then the last photo is at a bar window in Kyoto. Russian dolls? That is all right :) I have to organize my photos. More later!

Off to Japan! 日本の旅へ

これから東京へと発ちます。今年の夏休みは日本旅行。北海道は摩周湖、洞爺湖、札幌とまわり、それから京都へ飛んで、高野山、奈良にも行きます。旦那と私は毎年、夏休みの行き先を、かわりばんこに決めるのです。行きたい場所が違うので、喧嘩にならないように。笑　今年は旦那が日本を選びました。私も日本を旅行したことがあまりないので、楽しみです〜！

We are leaving for Tokyo now. First, we will fly to Hokkaido to visit Mashu Lake, Toya lake and Sapporo. Then we will fly to Kyoto to visit Koyasan and Nara. I'm excited to see my homeland!

結婚記念日 Anniversary!

きのうは結婚記念日で「ブルーヒル」という美味しいレストランに食事に行きました。このレストランはNY州アップステートに農場を持っていて、そこで飼育された豚や羊、野菜や果物などを使用しているので知られています。どれもが新鮮なのです。ラムが大好きな私ですが、その日のメニューにはラムがなかったので、蟹とサバの美しいお料理をいただきました。パンジーや薔薇の花びらが添えてあって綺麗でした。お味もすばらしい！デザートはラズベリ−チーズケーキとラズベリーソルベ。たらふく食べて幸せです。

It was our anniversary yesterday and my husband took me to a restaurant called, Blue Hill. They have a farm in upstate New York and their fresh ingredients come from their farm. I wanted to try their lamb, but they did not have it so I had a crab dish and a mackerel dish. The desert was great, too - raspberry cheesecake with raspberry sorbet! Needless to say that we ate too much!

Aamir khan! ボリウッド大スターアミールカーン！

きのうは彼の新作（と言っても去年の映画）「ガジー二」を見て大感動しました！カンフーがボリウッドに出会った！という、カンフーファンの私にとっては何とも嬉しい作品。でも、さすが、ボリウッドを代表するアミールの映画だけあって、かなり良くできていました。記憶を失ってしまったビジネスタイクーンが、苦労をしながら婚約者の敵をうつというストーリー。完璧主義者でもあるアミールは、鍛え抜いたボディを大披露。６パック（お腹の筋肉）どころか８パックには呆然とした私でした。あ〜やっぱり彼は私の永遠のアイドルです。きゃ〜！

I watched "Ghajini" last night, one of the latest films by Aamir Khan, the biggest Bollywood star. Needless to say, he is my favorite movie star - he is amazing! This film was perfect for me: it's like, Bollywood meets Kung-fu! Aamir is known as a perfectionist and he shows his very well-trained 8 packs in this film. It's a must-see film. Enjoy!
