New York~ Meat packing area~ NY〜ミートパッキングエリア〜

I woke up early to have a breakfast meeting in the meat packing area. This area has changed so much over the years. I used to party here a lot in the late 80's and early 90's. At that time there were only a few night clubs down here - Mars was one of them where I got commissioned to paint a huge mural for their grand opening by the owner Rudolf who used to own other legendary clubs such as, Danceteria and Tunnel, etc.

早起きしてミートマーケットエリアでのミーティング兼ねての朝食。このエリアは長い間に随分と変わりました。８０年代の終わりと９０年代の始め、ここでよく遊びました。当時はまだクラブもチラホラしかなかった。マーズはその中のひとつで、伝説的クラブ「ダンステリア」や「トンネル」のオーナーでもあったルドロフから依頼されて、私はマーズのオープニングにあわせて巨大な壁画も描きました。



Now this area is filled with fancy boutiques and restaurants. However, it's still dirty, filthy and smelly. In early morning before the garbage trucks pick up the trash it looked rather a hell. This area always smelled badly. I remember finding some bloody chicken heads on the streets...

今はこのエリア、ファンシーなブティックとレストランがズラリ並んでいます。でも、やっぱりまだ汚いし臭い。早朝にゴミ回収のトラックが来る前は、地獄のよう、、。やっぱりいつも臭いエリア。笑　かつてここで血まみれの鶏の頭を見たことがあります、、、。




Yet, when I arrived at Pastis, one of my favorite hangout places, my appetite came back! I've been coming here since its opening, and have witnessed so many celebrity faces here... needless to say that the film, "The Devil wears Prada" was shot here, too.

でも、私の長年のお気に入り、パスティスに着くとすぐに食欲が戻って来ました！このレストランにはオープニングから通っていて、もう数えきれないほどのセレブを見かけました、、。あの映画「プラダを着た悪魔」にも登場するトレンディなブラッサリーです。




As I was waiting for my friends at the table I saw at least several celebrities passing by. Since I don't follow them so religiously I don't know their names, but they are on televisions all the time... lol

友人を待っている間、何人のセレブが通るのを見たことか、、。私は有名人の名前をあまり知らないので分からないのですが、彼らはよくテレビに出ているようです、、。笑




Their brioche French toasts are heavenly good.... yummmm.

On my way to the airport I found this gorgeous dress in a store window. Since I was in a hurry I did not have time to go in..., but it is all right because I am coming back to New York in five days!

空港に向かう前、このゴージャスなドレスを見つけました。でも急いでたのでお店に入る時間は無し。でも大丈夫、数日後にまたすぐニューヨークに戻って来ますから！
